About the role

The Urgent and Emergency Care setting is a fast-paced environment, and as a Test Specialist you will be dealing with addressing the constantly evolving and rewarding challenges in delivering patient care. 

You will be working with NHS Pathways, which is an NHS owned, clinical decision tool that has been built working with clinicians to provide safe, effective and evidence-based assessment and referral to appropriate care. Covering any patient contacting urgent or emergency care by telephone, online or face-to-face, it is used by all 111 areas and five of the ten national 999 ambulance services.

As part of the role you will be responsible for: 

  • Quality assuring new and updated products that range across various web sites, web services and Windows applications, becoming a key subject matter expert on them.
  • Representing the Development team in multi-disciplinary teams that are run in 4-weekly sprints across the whole programme.
  • Assisting with the migration to AWS Cloud from on-premises VMs.

About you


We want you to be set for success, these are some of the key skills and experience that you'll bring to the role:
 

  • Experience in quality assuring web sites, web services and Windows applications
  • Proven knowledge of key concepts of agile development – the agile lifecycle, the mechanics of scrums and sprints, the principles of continuous integration.
  • Experience of diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving test, assurance and quality issues using tools such as JIRA, Cherwell or similar.
  • Experience leading with problem analysis and resolution Specialist knowledge or experience of test and assurance practices, tools and techniques in an agile environment, including effective risk management.
  • Proven ability of applying structured test and assurance techniques and processes for complex IT systems and solutions.
  • Experience of keeping senior management, customers and stakeholders up to date on supplier or in-house testing activities including how issues are progressing and any unplanned delays
